Argostoli, Cephalonia, Greece

Argostoli is the capital of Cephalonia and has a large Town Quay.

The quay is perhaps 200 metres long and yachts concentrate along the northern half as the water shallows as you go south.  Depths off the quay are in the order of 3 or 4 meters and we had out about 40 metres of cable. Possibly a bit much as the ground is mud and holding was good. Someone laid their anchor across ours which made getting off fun.

The quay is run as a local consession and the ‘harbour master’ hangs out in a local Taverna and will appear as you arrive.   Rates are reasonable.  There is water on the quayside and WiFi if you are close enough to the Taverna!

Fuel can be delivered by mini tanker on the Comercial Quay, you don’t have to go searching, a guy rides along on a bike offering fuel, prices seem normal.

There are fresh fruit and veg markets and a buthers at the southern end of the quay and more supermarkets are a cab ride away.

The Port Police are on the Comercial Quay at the north end of the Town Quay if you need a DEPKA.

Argostoli is a pleasant, large and busy town with basic facilities.  It is a good base for exploring the island.

Sailing south ….
