Port Thassos, Thassos, Greece

July 2017

Port Thassos, also known as a Limin Panayia, or Nea Limani has an old and a new harbour.   The old one is small, crowded and in better condition than the new one.

The new harbour is an unwelcoming disaster zone.  There are a few service points on the harbour wall but they are wrecks, mostly fallen and universally rusted.  You go alongside the harbour wall, the town quay is the domain of charter and trip boats.

The only reason to visit would be to see the ruins of ancient Thassos east of the old harbour and the fabulous museum.

Best avoided.

Sailing south ….
