Heading North East

Our next expedition started today, Tuesday 31st. We set off on the coach from Santos heading for Congonhas airport in Sāo Paulo, bound for Aracaju in Sergipé State; it is 2300 km north of Santos, about 3 hours in the plane and involved turning the clocks back one hour.

We stay in Aracaju until Friday, meeting up with Chris and Anisia, before we all set off in their car for Xingo.  Xingo is a river canyon on the Sāo Francisco river near the town of Piranhas, about 200 km from Aracaju on the border between the States of Sergipe and Alagoas. We have 2 days there before heading south to Chapada Diamantina. This is in Morro do Chapeu State Park in Bahia State and is meant to be beautiful. It is a mere 710 km from Xingo, which is supposed to take 9 or 10 hours to drive.  After a week there we drive the 600 km back to Aracaju, before saying farewell to Chris and Anisia and flying back to Santos on the 14th.
