With Lefkas disappearing behind us we headed for the huge bay at Vlikho. This is a well protected and picturesque anchorage and is normally quite crowded. We planned on spending 2 nights here so I could clean the horrible fender marks of ground in dirt from the hulls. This took the whole morning and at least we don’t now look like we live in a marina, an important distinction for cruising yachties!
Vlikho is delightfully peaceful and with the awning out over the fore deck it was idyllic. As the tender was still in the water from my hull cleaning we figured we’d take a run ashore to the coincidentally close-by Taverna Elena with it’s own tender moorings.
Although we did discuss moving the half mile across to the west side of the bay to visit the Vlikho Yacht Club we actually decided to move on to the island of Meganissi, 6 miles east of Lefkas. I want to ‘explore’ the towns and anchorages of the island and we sort of intend to be in Cephalonia next week sometime.
